How to have coffee the railfan's way?
Look whose driving and waving the green flag. Sorry for the camera mobile picture. I haven't got a better camera.
There was a meeting arranged at Aravind's house i.e the South Cabin. Nishant, Ramkarthik(RK) and myself were going for that meet. Ramkarthik was more of a temple fan than a rail fan. I thought of introducing my friend Aravind to him as Aravind is also interested in temples. I boarded a bus to T.Nagar and I waited there. RK came in bike and together we went to Saidapet. We planned to stay at the South Cabin for 4 hours.
WAP-4#22550 majestically hauls 2636 Vaigai Express. Since it was Durga pooja, the locomotive was decorated. Pic taken from kitchen!
While formal introductions were going on, Nishanth a.k.a Siva Ramakrishnan of Mylapore dropped in. Nishant was another temple fan. There is not even a single temple(literally) he hasn't visited in Tamilnadu. He knows about temples almost in and out. We were talking of various things till Aravind got a call and asked us to assemble near the "Arrivals Terminal" for someone special is coming in a goods train. WAG-7#27830 hauled a BCNA rake at around 40kmph! WAP-4#22550 hauled Vaigai Express and it was doing a very good speed. The locomotive was decorated with flowers.
An EMU going towards Tambaram. Pic taken from bedroom!
We spent sometime with the computers. Whenever we get holidays, we always run behind trains. Aravind was showing lots of videos and pictures of his train trips. Aravind has taken a lot of meter gauge videos! YDM-4's! They rest in peace. Nowadays there is a lot of talking about broad gauge than meter gauge trains. But once upon a time, MG locos were the kings.
Am a railfan boy! Coffee at Aravind's house.
Get electrified!
I had coffee in this cup. It was actually a gift by Ashwanth and Naveen to Aravind.
We had some snacks and tea. I was really surprised to see the cups. Looks like railnuts would walk an extra mile! Locomotives in cups! I was amazed. Plans were made on the oncoming Sadhuragiri trip near Watrap. As Aravind and Nishanth planned it by referring to Google Earth, RK and myself watched. I wasn't going to feature in Sadhuragiri trip anyway as I would be busy in November. Aravind shared some paintings of Shilpi. It was awesome. We had a look at Aravind's golu too. Too good! The meeting was over at 1545hrs when Pallavan Express crossed our balcony.
