Top 20 songs

Hai Friends,

The post was supposed to be published in May 2009. But for some unknown reason, it got delayed. It has been in drafts for ages. So today morning I found quality time to give a "single click".

All these songs have been judged under criteria of music, beats and voice. 75% of weightage is for music. However, if the music video has got some offensive stuff it would be losing points in my ratings. Pictures are added to promote unity and to add interest. Photos speak more than videos. The reason is that in a photograph you need to think and reconstruct the event, while a video is simply technology in my opinion. Pictures give you an option to feel the essence of the subject.

So here it comes..........!

1. Vishnu Sahasranamam-M.S.Subbulakshmi version.
2. Backstreet Boys-I want it that way.
3. National Anthem of Indian Union(I prefer to call it this way, not simply India).
4. Michael Jackson-Smooth Criminal
5. National Anthem of USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics)
6. Mile Sur Mera Tumhara-National Integration Song
7. Michael Jackson-Black or White
8. Boney-M-Rasputin
9. Vaaranam Aayiram-Nenjukkul Peithidum Maa Mazhai
10. Michael Jackson-Heal the World
11. Miss Spicy Mix-Chod do Aanchal
12. Backstreet Boys-Get Down
13. Vaaranam Aayiram-Oh Shanti Oh Shanti [Fast]
14. Blue-One Love
15. Bunty Aur Bubli-Dhadhak Dhadhak
16. Backstreet Boys-Shape of my heart
17. M2M: Pretty Boy
18. Kank: Where’s the party tonight
19. Agni Nakshatram-Ninnukori Varanam
20. Kank: Love will find a way

My Comments:-

* Vishnu Sahashranam- I like the song primarily for the verses and the rhythm/vibrations it generates when recited. It has also got some useful quotes for life.

* Backstreet Boys-I want it that way. Best ever song in my opinion. I like the sequence from 2:20 onwards, "Though wanna hear you say, ain't nothing but heartache, ain't nothing but a mistake".

* National Anthem of Indian Union-I always like to call my country as a Republic or a Union when writing official documents, though in words I simply call it India. For some obvious reasons I don’t support its cinema industry. I should admit that I perceive the world differently. When I started working, I thought that I was contributing to the nation. Whenever an Indian Air Force jet flies on top, I use to think that it was built from my humble contribution i.e. tax. Not only me. Even you! The only difference is that it's not my property. I share it with you. Not you alone. With another billion...

Indian Air Force in formation.

* Michael Jackson-Smooth Criminal. I like the sequence after the small boy dances like MJ and MJ does that famous step with his patented shoes and then performs robot walking.

* National Anthem of USSR-Military choir of the USSR was awesome! Just go to you tube and listen to it once. You would know why it was called the superpower. Too bad it collapsed.

Education was a priority in the USSR. Pic taken during Soviet era.

* Mile Sur Mera Tumhara-Best ever song! Truly India's gift to the world. The song and music video portrays India's culture, people and the unity in diversity. When I was young I use to wonder how Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan would look like... It is a part of my country, but still it is different in culture. I look different and a fellow Indian in Nagaland looks different but still we sing the same anthem. I am one of the blessed souls in the world. No doubt about that. We all pledge saying that "All Indians are my brothers and sister". I intend to follow at least 80% of the time, even though sometimes it never works out but I still push it on that way.

* MJ-Black or White-Amazing song! MJ dances with all the cultures in the world. Phillipino, Indian, Russian, African to promote racial unity.

* Boney-M-Rasputin. Boney M band visited my school and performed this song! Awesome! However, it has got an offensive portrayal of USSR and the song lost ratings because of that.

Odissi Dancer, Konark Temple, Orissa.

* Vaaranam Aayiram-Nenjukkal Peithidum. No words to praise. I am running short words. Best song ever. I am not a great fan of the Modern era as I prefer conservative lifestyle, but this song was too good. Sameera Reddy's dress selection is excellent and it matches well with Surya's.

* MJ-Heal the World. Fantastic song! Lyrics. Each and every human should listen to this at least once. We don't really want another USSR versus USA cold war.

* Chod do Aaanchal-Classic remake of the duet between Nutan and Dev Anand. Both the Miss Spicy Mix and Bombay Vikings are too good.

* Backstreet Boys-Get Down. One amazing song. "Baby, I need a girl like you, tell me if you feel it too. I am in delusion day-in and day-out, my heart is flying out for you. I feel heaven when I look in your eyes; I know that you are the one for me"

MJ-Heal the world.

* Vaaranam Aayiram-Oh Shanti Oh Shanti. The song runs pretty fast. Since I haven't seen the film I can't make out what really was the purpose of this song.

* Blue-One Love. Nice dress selection in music video. It is similar to June Ponal July Kaatre in Tamil. It was also remade in Hindi with Abhishek Bachan with the same lyrics almost. Infact the same. Just listen to it and get back to me.

* Bunty Aur Bubli-Dhadhak-Dhadhak. I like the sequence from 1:54(not sure) when the singer's voice is almost like Mohammed Rafique. "Hum Chale, Hum Chale" or Ram Chandra... I don't know why those lines are needed in the song. WDM-2 locomotive and Abishek Bachan-nice combination. The moving train adds beauty to the song.

* Backstreet Boys-Shape of my Heart. I like the sequence after 2:20 which comes after a short pause. Overall a nice song.

* M2M: Pretty Boy- Nice song. Thanks to my colleague Charles for that song. I wish it was even faster, but I can't really make musics like that. So I would rather accept what the song has given me.

* Kank-Where's the Party tonight. The song has got good music. I pray to God to give Preity Zinta more dress on her body. The song lost ratings primarily due to offensive portrayal of Indian lifestyle and traditions.

* Agninakshatram-Ninnukori Varanam. Excellent song. Nostalgia! A hit in 1990's. Amala and Prabhu feature in the song. I remember seeing it during my first grade!

* Kank-Mitwa...Love will find a way... Jaaniye Heeraye...Nice song.

Backstreet Boys.

** I request all readers to use Youtube to listen to all the above 20 songs. I am sure you would like it. You can use Youtube Downloader to download the .flv version of the song. Using the same software you can convert it to .avi or .3gp and you can even store it in your mobile.
